What is an Embedded Librarian?
Faculty have the option for online library support in student coursework using an embedded librarian. Embedded librarians are library staff integrated into online courses through the College’s learning management system, Canvas. Students are able to directly contact the librarian for additional support relating to the coursework through internal real-time message boards.
How can an Embedded Librarian Help?
- Setting up virtual office hours using LibCal
- Posting relevant content to an online blog or message board
- Alerting students to the latest books or articles relevant to their research topics
- Creating a Research Guide targeted to your course's research assignments
- Designing pre- and post- tests to assess students' research skills
