Library Guides are created and curated by TSTC Librarians. We evaluate and then select the best resources that support a specific subject or topic and we also make sure these resources are up-to-date. If you are not sure where to start, use the topics above to find popular guide topics.
Use Library Guides as a starting point for your ideas or if your instructor has recommended that you use them. Course and Assignment Guides are tailored to a specific class or project. Definitely use course guides if your instructor recommends one, a guide is included in your course on Canvas, or there is an assignment specifically for your course.
Library guides can help you get you started, but they are often too general in scope to really help with a specific research question. For example, we have a research guide on writing Compare/Contrast Papers, but it's up to you to decide what topic you'd like to explore. So, don't just use the resources that we suggest or the links that we provide. Dig deeper. Explore! Get lost even. Research is not about already having the answer, but rather, discovering it!
