Access Through OpenAthens

Personalization & personal accounts

Some of the library's online resources request additional information about users once authenticated through OpenAthens. Data might include your email address or name.

In some cases this additional information is optional in other cases, the publisher requires it for access.

Some of the advantages to personalization include:

  • Saving search results
  • Saving searches
  • Annotating sources
  • Recommended resources

On this page you will find information about vendors who may make use of and store your personal information.

Please see OpenAthens and Your Privacy for more information.

ONEsearch & EBSCOhost databases

In order to use EBSCO databases, you must consent to EBSCO's Personal Data Retention and Usage policy.

The first time you log into Ebsco through OpenAthens, a unique OpenAthens numeric identifier tied to your UARK login is passed to Ebsco. This is used to create a new My Ebscohost account linked to your login. My Ebscohost personal accounts allow you to save search results to folders, to save search strategies, and more.

You do not need to add any personal information to your My Ebscohost personal account; the unique OpenAthens identifier is sufficient. However, if you would like to add more personal information, here are the steps.

To Update your Account with Personal Information

This is optional. After connecting through OpenAthens, click the Sign In or Update My Account link in the upper right corner any EBSCO database to add your name and email address to your account. EBSCO and Library Services do not share this information.

Merge Your My Ebscohost Accounts

If you already have a personal my Ebscohost account and you would like to move all saved items to your new account, you may merge accounts. Once your accounts are merged, the account that contained the data that was merged into the target account is removed and no longer exists.

When logging into EBSCO databases or ONEsearch for the first time, click Continue Personalization.

Click the Get Started button for the EBSCO Merge Accounts option at the bottom of the page.

Click the Sign in to your second account button with the username and password for your previously-created account.

Follow the prompts to merge the older account into your new My Ebscohost account.

Confirm the accounts you are merging are correct and click the Merge Account Data button.

Click Continue to confirm you wish to continue with the merge of your accounts. Note: Once you click to merge accounts, this action cannot be undone.

Note: If your account is associated with a deliverable email address you will receive an email when your accounts have been successfully merged.

Ebsco's Data Retention Policy

In order to use EBSCO databases, you must consent to EBSCO's Personal Data Retention and Usage policy. You can read more about the policy at Ebsco's support site. EBSCO does not share your personal information with non-EBSCO third parties.

ProQuest Ebook Central

The first time you log into ProQuest Ebook Central  through OpenAthens, a unique OpenAthens numeric identifier tied to your TSTC login is passed to Ebook Central. This is used to create a new Ebook Central account linked to your TSTC login.

Your Ebook Central account allows you to download entire books for a limited time (depending on publisher restrictions), make annotations, and  create a personal bookshelf. Your bookshelf in ProQuest Ebook Central keeps track of your downloads, loans and saved books, and lets you share them with others. Read more about your bookshelf.

On-campus? You can still sign in to your Ebook Central account with your TSTC login.
